Meet our Nutrition Expert
Hi, I’m Olivia Shuttleworth, the founder and nutritionist at Optimal Health. After a fulfilling (but busy and stressful) decade as a commercial lawyer, I transitioned towards the world of holistic health, driven by a profound experience with personalised nutrition that transformed my daughter’s health amid her struggles with skin conditions and allergies. Witnessing similar transformations in my clients struggling with their own health concerns, reinforces my commitment to empowering others on their paths to optimal health and wellbeing.
I am a Registered Clinical Nutritionist, certified by the Clinical Nutrition Association. Having completed three years of rigorous training, I hold a diploma in Nutritional Therapy with distinction from the prestigious College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. I am devoted to ongoing learning, staying abreast of the latest scientific developments in the field of nutrition.
When I’m not immersed in the world of nutrition, I’m mum to two wonderful kids and wife to my amazing husband Ed. My family put up with my rants about nourishing their bodies with good food, but also find my stashes of chocolate (because it’s not just about eating well all the time, it’s also about balance and enjoying the things we love).
On my days off, I’m often elbow-deep in soil tending to our vegetable garden or running around after our escaped chickens while being late for school pick up. My happiest place is always outside in nature; I’ll take any opportunity for a hike in the mountains around Nelson (dragging the family along on overnight adventures) and can be found on the local mountain biking trails trying to keep up with friends.
My philosophy is simple; holistic wellness isn’t just about what you eat, but how you live. It’s about nurturing your body and your mind and embracing life to the fullest. I design personalised nutrition and lifestyle plans that work alongside people’s busy lives and are unique to their personal journey, integrating evidence-based practices with insight and a whole lot of heart.
